The Start of the School Year Also Brings Obligations for Employees

The start of the new school year is approaching.

Do you know what obligations you have towards your employer if you are claiming the monthly tax bonus for a child?

If an employee wishes to claim the monthly tax bonus for a child, they are required to submit a Certificate of School Attendance for the current school year to their employer by the end of September.

This confirmation must be provided by employees who are claiming the tax bonus for a child who has already completed compulsory schooling or is over 16 years of age and is continuously preparing for a profession through studies, up to the age of 18. The bonus can be claimed for the last time in the month in which the child turns 18.

If the child has finished secondary school and does not continue their studies, the parent is entitled to the tax bonus for the last time in August 2025, and at the same time, for the last time in the month in which the child reaches the age of 18.

What is important is which of these situations occurs first. If it is August 31, 2025, you must report the change to your employer – i.e., the termination of claiming the tax bonus for the child.
